the magic of theatre

By May 12, 2014Uncategorized

What draws me to theatre? Becoming someone else. On that magical stage an introvert like me transforms into the life of the party. It’s the most freeing feeling in the world! Forget who you are. Look and behave like a total stranger. You’ll love it. (Just maybe keep the costumes to the stage, not the street.)

This past week I had the exceptional privilege of performing for 2200 elementary, middle, and high school kids in Opera Colorado’s student matinee production of Carmen.  I sang the role of Frasquita, a tougher-than-nails thieving gypsy from 1930’s Spain (in this production). Now, I may be cunning, but I’m no thief. And I’m blond, so there’s that… Take a look at just how different from me I got to be!  Looks, fun, right! (IT IS!)
