A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Amy began teaching voice in 2008 while finishing her undergraduate degree in Voice Performance at Lee University. She continued teaching voice as a Graduate Assistant while obtaining her MM in Voice Performance from Florida State University under renowned tenor Stanford Olsen and has been teaching privately ever since.
Amy’s teaching philosophy is “to make you sound like you.” She believes in discovering and expanding on those distinctive qualities that make every voice unique. Amy’s teaching aims to maximize each singer’s natural talents in whatever genre or style the student sings throughout his life. Her approach is holistic in that it focuses not only on the vocal mechanism itself but also on the body and mind that perform along with it.
A classical soprano, Amy performs nationwide with such companies as the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Kentucky, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Opera Colorado, The Ohio Light Opera, Opera Theater of the Rockies, The Colorado Chamber Orchestra, and the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, among others.
